SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES &

Grounded Integration

Some people come to therapy not because something is “wrong,” but because something profound has opened and they’ve been left to hold it alone.

This work supports individuals who have had spiritually significant or non-ordinary experiences and are seeking grounding, coherence, and integration into everyday life.

This includes support for:

• Spiritual awakening or disorientation
• Shifts in identity or meaning
• Non-ordinary experiences
• Near-death experiences
• Post-plant-medicine integration
• Shamanic or symbolic experiences
• Difficulty grounding afterward
• Feeling isolated or misunderstood

Integration, not interpretation

Spiritual experiences, whether spontaneous, ceremonial, or arising through illness, trauma, or altered states, can open powerful inner landscapes. While these experiences may expand perception, they can also destabilise identity, strain relationships, and overwhelm the nervous system when left unsupported.

Without careful integration, people may experience anxiety, dissociation, emotional inflation, relational rupture, or a deep sense of isolation, especially in a modern world that offers few safe, grounded spaces to make sense of these experiences.

Here, spiritual and shamanic experiences are approached with respect and discernment. Rather than amplifying or dismissing them, the focus is on grounding insight into the body, relationships, and daily life, supporting emotional stability, coherence, and meaning that can be lived, not just understood.

The aim is not transcendence for its own sake, but embodied integration:
the capacity to hold expanded awareness while remaining present, relational, and anchored in modern life.

This is part of the wider ecosystem I understand, not something I blend casually into therapy.

MY ROLE

I support:
 • Nervous system regulation and stabilisation
 • Psychological integration and coherence
 • Meaning-making grounded in lived experience
 • Re-attunement into relationships, work, parenting, and everyday reality

I do not:
 • Provide substances
 • Recommend substances
 • Prepare, guide, or facilitate ceremonies

My role is to support integration, coherence, and stability, not to facilitate altered states.

A grounded, harm-aware perspective

Given the growing number of retreats and offerings available today, it is important to acknowledge that not all contexts are safe, ethical, or properly held. In some cases, substances are mixed with unregulated or undisclosed compounds, which can lead to severe chemical imbalances and long-term nervous system disruption. Feeling safe, informed, and able to trust the environment is essential when engaging with altered states of consciousness.

From time to time, clients ask whether I am familiar with reputable, ethically grounded retreat settings. While I do not refer or recommend as part of my therapeutic work, I am familiar with established practitioners and settings. Information can be shared privately and upon request, with clear boundaries and without obligation.

This work is grounded in interpersonal neurobiology, early development, and embodiment, allowing spiritual experiences to be integrated in ways that support psychological health, relational safety, and long-term wellbeing.

Some Frequently Asked Questions

MORE INFORMATION

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is strictly confidential. I follow the ethical guidelines outlined by the BACP to ensure your privacy is respected and protected. Everything shared within our sessions remains confidential, except in rare situations where there is a legal or ethical obligation to break confidentiality, for example, if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. In such cases, I will always strive to discuss this with you beforehand, wherever possible. Confidentiality and trust are the cornerstones of our work together.

Do you offer virtual therapy sessions?

Yes. All therapy sessions are offered online, providing you with the flexibility and comfort to engage in therapy from your own space. Online sessions are held via secure, confidential video platforms to ensure your privacy and ease of access.

This approach allows you to maintain consistency in your healing journey, no matter where you are, while still receiving the same level of depth, care, and connection as in-person sessions. Many clients find that being in a familiar environment helps them feel more relaxed and open during the process.

Do I need to have a specific goal in mind before starting therapy?

No, you don’t need to have a specific goal before starting therapy. Many clients begin therapy with a general sense that they want to feel better, gain clarity, or explore something that feels unsettled in their lives. Therapy is a collaborative process, and together we can identify what’s most important for you to focus on as we progress. Whether you have a clear goal in mind or simply feel ready to explore, therapy provides a supportive space to help you navigate your unique journey.

Do you work with neurodivergent clients?

Yes, I am experienced in working with clients who are neurodivergent or have unique learning needs. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, and I take a personalized approach to ensure that each client feels supported in a way that aligns with their needs and preferences. This includes adapting communication styles, using creative tools, and working collaboratively to ensure therapy feels accessible and empowering for you. My aim is to create a safe, understanding space where you can explore and thrive

What does it mean when you say “evidence-based approach”?

It means that the psychological methods I use are grounded in research and clinical practice. In simple terms, they’ve been shown to work. My framework draws from integrative psychotherapy, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, and trauma-informed methods; approaches that help regulate the nervous system and create lasting emotional change. I also incorporate neuroplasticity-based tools, which support the brain’s natural ability to rewire and form new, healthier patterns of thought and feeling.

In essence, “evidence-based” means this work is both scientifically credible and deeply human-rooted in proven psychology while remaining responsive to your unique experience.
