Maia’s work explores how experience becomes expectation, and how those expectations shape what we notice, the dynamics we participate in, and what we believe is possible.
Drawing on psychotherapy and neuroscience, she considers each person within the wider context of their life. Thoughts, emotions, bodily responses, and relationships each reveal something. She pays attention to how these experiences interact, how familiar responses take hold, and what allows new ways of responding to become possible.
Her approach holds curiosity for what is familiar and what has yet to find expression. A response can carry both intelligence and limitation: it may have helped someone navigate an earlier chapter of life while narrowing their choices in the present.
Together, Maia and her clients examine the meanings they have come to live by, recognising where these offer continuity and where they leave too little room for change. Recognising patterns that operate outside conscious awareness can open a path towards a more fulfilling life… one shaped increasingly by what matters to us. The work connects this recognition with opportunities to explore and practise different responses in everyday life.
At its heart is an interest in how we can remain connected to ourselves while becoming more open to experience, to others, and to what we do not yet know about ourselves.

" Change begins when the nervous system meets what it used to avoid and discovers it can survive it without numbing, performing, or disappearing. This is how the system rewires: early survival patterns loosen, the childhood blueprint updates, and what once kept you safe but constrained you no longer dictates how you live, relate, or respond "
